“The role of a coach is not just to teach skills but to inspire a love for the game and a passion for continuous improvement.” – Pat Riley, “The Winner Within: A Life Plan for Team Players” (1993)
Today, I had a front-row seat to the #SparkSpecialistCoaching Clinic! What a treat! Twenty energetic young netballers turned up to meet Coach Vanessa Ware, a former Australian player, Swifts centurion (yes, that means more than 100 games for the Sydney Swifts!), and a member of the esteemed Netball NSW Hall of Fame.
It wasn't her impressive CV or long list of awards that made the greatest impression today, but witnessing her ABSOLUTE love for the game and her dedication to helping each and every girl on the court to improve, and to ENJOY this great game. The morning was filled with specialized skills, tactics, tips, and netball tricks, all wrapped in fun, smiles, and enjoyment. A recipe for success!
This is how we build the future of sport and the future of our children: by inspiring a love for the game and a passion for continuous improvement. Thank goodness for GREAT coaches! Hats off to Ness, you are a true legend!
